Star Tell Me Pastor

Not accepting responsibility
Dear Pastor,

I am writing you with tears in my eyes. I have a boyfriend and we had sex two times in one week. And when I did not see my period, I went to the doctor and the doctor said I am pregnant. I told him about it and he cursed me and told me to go and find the right father. I told him he is the right father because I did not have sex with anybody else. From that time, whenever I call his phone he is not answering. I send him texts and he is not responding.

I don't know what to do. I am 18 years old and he is 31. My first boyfriend was not a responsible man so I stopped talking to him and took a big man, and this is what happened to me. My sister saw him and told him that he should call me because I am pregnant. And he promised to call me but he didn't. He told her that I am going to mash up his life, because he is living with his babymother and I know about her, so why am I calling his name.

Pastor, he is lying too much, because when I met he told me that he did not have anybody and I am the type of woman he is looking for. He is a security guard and it is at his workplace I went to visit him one night and we had sex while he was doing his job, and I got pregnant.

I don't know where he is living, but I know the name of the company he is working with. I am giving him another two weeks. And if he doesn't answer my calls, I am going to go to the company and tell them everything because I know he can lose his job for having sex with me while he was on duty.

Do you think that I am wrong for thinking this way?

T.W., St Andrew

Dear T.W.,

This man who got you pregnant should be ashamed of himself. He knows exactly what he did, and he should not now behave as if you are a girl whose character is bad. Both of you have had a relationship, and both of you had unprotected sex. If he has a doubt about whether he is responsible for the pregnancy, he could reason with you and tell you that after you have given birth, a paternity test should be done to ascertain whether he is the father.

I would not encourage you to report him to the company for which he works. They may fire him and he might become resentful and not support the child. Ask your sister to reason with him so that he will help you prepare for the baby. And as soon as the baby is born he may agree to do a paternity test.
