A man who pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of dried coconut from a farm was remanded for sentencing when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is Anthony Allen, 27, unemployed of Guanaboa Vale, St Catherine.

When Allen appeared on Tuesday, he told the court the coconuts were in his way and he picked them up.

The complainant countered that argument when he told the court that the accused was caught on his farm husking 33 of his coconuts.

"Your honour, he was even given work on the farm and he continues to steal," the complainant said.

The court was told that on July 18, the accused went to the farm and stole the coconuts valued about $1,900.

He was held and subsequently charged with praedial larceny.

The RM told the accused that he was expected to make restitution for the coconut on November 7, during sentencing.
