Accused ganja smoker gets bail extension

A man who was reportedly seen by police officers smoking a cigar said to contain ganja at the Shell Service Station on Red Hills Road, recently had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Ralston Williams, of a Kingston 19 address, is charged with smoking and possession of ganja and is to return to court on August 22 when the matter is to be mentioned again.

According to police reports, on July 19 about 9:15 p.m. the accused was observed by a police patrol team in the StAndrew North Division with a lit paper cigar between his lips.

The accused was approached by the police who requested a search of his person when it was reportedly discovered that the cigar contained vegetable matter resembling ganja.

The accused was escorted to the Constant Spring Police Station and placed in custody where it was later discovered that he had additional ganja on him.

He was later arrested and charged.
