Fast-Rising Reggae crooner Sophia Squire is thrilled with the progress of her career.

The singer has being making waves on the local market with a number of songs and seems poised to take her career to the next level.

"I feel blessed," she said in a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday. "I am encouraged by the comments I get from fans when I post my songs. Every small comment counts and I just wanna say thank you so much guys."

The singer is presently receiving lots of airplay with the sexy contemporary Reggae love song, Next To Me on the Purple Skunk Label.

The singer in the chorus makes it clear of her desire to be close to her man, belting out; "Does he love me, love me not, not. Like to know the spot, that makes me weak. Does he know how silly I get when he is right, right next to me."

personal experience

When asked if the lyrics were personal; "It is coming from personal experience. I was going through a rough time when I wrote it but what it reflects is that love conquers all."

Before the success of Next To Me, Squire had fully penetrated the minds of many music fans with a release called, Nature's Calling produced by Tremor Modernise and Bredroc Music.

The song became a hit and entered several local charts. It also crept into the United States and European markets.

She has also experienced success with other songs such as Love Like Rain, Live and Learn and Find A Way.

Squire, who had been background vocalist for sometime, went solo in 2008 with the song Rat-ta-ta-ta-tat. This instantly received attention and got an awesome amount of airplay. Before that, the singer/songwriter had been background vocals for people such as Gregory Isaacs, Paul Elliot, Jah Mason, Lutan Fyah, Fantan Mojah, Glen Washington, Warrior King, Andy Livingston, Luciano and Richie Spice.
