SISTER BEATEN WITH POT COVER

A man who used a pot cover to slap his sister in the face because she refused to allow him to do his laundry before she did hers, was fined $5,000 or six months when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court yesterday.

Romaine Morgan of a Kingston 20 address was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

When the matter appeared in court yesterday, it took a twist after the complainant asked the court to withdraw the charge against her brother as she had forgiven him.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey then took the complainant's request into consideration but was insistent that the accused at least pay a fine for his offence.

pay for his sins

The RM emphasized that the accused must "pay for his sins," regardless of his sister's change of heart.

Interestingly, however, Morgan seemed in no mood to forgive his sibling as he refused to lend her his cellphone so that she could call someone to pay the fine for him.

After Morgan refused to loan his sister the phone, RM Pusey advised the complainant that she should return home and leave him since he was reluctant to give her the instrument so she could assist him.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, the complainant and her brother had an argument over the washing of clothes.

The defendant shoved the complainant in her face, then used a pot cover to hit her several times causing a bruise to her back and pain to her back and left arm.
