![]() Brianna Martin collects a certificate. Parents, teachers and students were out in droves to witness Glowell Preparatory's Evening of Excellence show on the school grounds recently. Students Fabrizio Darby and Melisa Jackson were competent as MCs and gave the proceedings a lively touch. The school's dance group, which copped a number of silver medals at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission National Finals, thrilled on stage and gave the crowd something to cheer about, including Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. Earlier, the preschool students recited I Am Special and K1 paid tribute to community helpers with song and movement. K2 were lively with their folk medley dance, and equally enjoyable was Grade Four's Our Resources, which highlighted Jamaica's rich natural resources, and Grade Five's No Man Is An Island. Also making contributions to the show were Grade One with a poem titled Rain Clouds, Grade two recited Six To Half Past Eight, and Grade three spoke about God's miracles. Near the end of proceedings, the reading club did a special presentation in song. In-between performances, awards were given to students who had done well, or have shown marked improvement in their schoolwork or carrying out chores. At the end of the show, a pleased Gloria Jack, principal of the institution, thanked her staff for rallying around her to produce a successful show. She also thanked the parents and students for their support. |
