Jamaica badminton players ready for Champs |

The Jamaica Badminton Association (JBA) committee met with the Mayor Desmond McKenzie as they geared up for the 20th Ocean Spray Pan American Badminton Championships, to be held at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Independence Park, starting this Sunday July 24-31. In addition to the meeting, a book was given to them, and they each received certificates commemorating the visit. Jamaica named a 66-member team on July 6, of which 13 players will take part in the Under-19, and another 13 in the Under-17 competitions. Fourteen players will compete in the Under-15 and another 14 in the Under-13 division. In the Under-11, there will be 12 players selected. Leading up to the championships they have been training at the G.C. Foster College in Spanish Town. The members of the Jamaican team are: Mikaylia Haldane, Sue-Ann Berry, Nicole Smith, Jozanne Suckie, Dora Lai, Danielle Richards (for the Under-19 girls). In the boys category Anthony McNee, Gerald Isaacs, Dennis Coke, Romone Robinson, Jemarey Gordon, Rashaun McCalla, and Jonathan Tomlinson. In the Under-17 section, Jamaica will be represented by Jade Clarke, Katherine Wynter, Diamond Cassanova, D'Anna-Marie Richards, Eleanor Reynolds, Chantal McLaren; as well as Samuel Ricketts, Tremar Barham, Jonathan David Smith, Vinroy Braham, Kamaro Morgan, and Glenroy Gayle. For the Under-15 category, Alyssa Mullings, Iesha Gordon, Esther Reynolds, Christina Hastings, Christina Petri, Shanique Shepherd, Taylor-Ann Chin-Quee; and Sean Wilson, Shevon Salmon, Erin Bailey, Matthew Lee, Dre'Neil Lyle, Kenneth Anglin and Shaquille Palmer will hope to give their best. |
