Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer The Spanish Town police in St Catherine have confirmed that a head taken from the Rio Cobre yesterday was that of slain teenager Joyette Lynch who was beheaded along with her mother Charmaine Rattray in Lauriston in the parish. The gruesome discovery was made about 1 p.m., when a group of boys swimming near the Rio Cobre Railway Bridge in Spanish Town saw it floating. As the news started to spread, hundreds of persons converged, resulted in the police cordoning off the area and redirecting traffic for hours. There were various theories as to how the head got to where it was discovered. "A God lift it up from under di river and mek it float dat everybody can see di wickedness, and a get a vision dat di other two will soon float up too," a female bystander was heard saying to another. Others claimed that it was the first they have seen a head recovered so quickly in the area and it is signs of things to come. The head was removed by a funeral home. About 3 a.m. on Wednesday, residents were awakened to the gruesome discovery of Lynch and Rattray headless bodies. It was the third such incident in three days following that of Scott Thomas. Investigators say that they are yet to make a breakthrough, but they are following strong leads. |
