Widow of murdered hotelier out on bail |

Gareth Davis Sr, STAR Writer Port Antonio, Portland A Portland widow, who appeared in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday after being charged with conspiracy to murder, is now out on bail. Thirty-eight-year-old Charmaine Stynner was released on $500,000 bail yesterday evening, after spending an extra night in jail. She was charged on Monday by the Portland police with conspiracy to murder in relation to the gruesome killing of her husband, hotelier Elmott Stynner, three years ago. Stynner, along with a family member, Owen Clarke, who is charged with the murder of the hotelier, appeared in court on Tuesday. Clarke was remanded however, the widow was offered bail. She, however, did not take up the bail offer until yesterday. The body of the hotelier was found on May 9, 2008, with multiple stab wounds to the body, lying face down in a pool of blood, along the road at Spring Bank. The police later confirmed that Stynner was also shot in the neck. According to the police, Stynner and the family member were arrested following a long and intense series of investigations, in which new evidence was uncovered. As part of her bail condition, Stynner had to surrender all travel documents, and is to report to the Port Antonio police three days per week. At the time of his murder, the hotelier was the owner and operator of Jamaica Heights Resort, which is a favourite getaway spot for European visitors. |
