Officially released last week, Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor's Bad Acid Riddim is already dominating the airwaves.

The rhythm features tracks from Mavado, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Elephant Man, Bramma, Agent Sasco, Laden, T'nez, Chino and Di Genius himself, among others.

"We are planning a medley for the riddim," Di Genius told THE STAR, instead of doing videos for the singles.

"So far the response is great. The rhythm is on iTunes and the popularity of the songs is really high. There's just a really good feedback," he said.

Fans have been commenting not only on the singer/songwriter/producer's Facebook and Twitter pages, but also on every other site that features the Bad Acid Riddim.

Although the rhythm was released in time for the summer, Di Genius revealed that the lack of a summer song was deliberate, stating that he does not want it to be dubbed a summer rhythm.

dancehall scene

The younger of the McGregor brothers came on the dancehall scene a couple years ago with a vibe that was tagged only to him. However, the musical genius, as he is called, has a few surprises up his sleeves.

"I came out with a particular sound, and I am currently making some changes to that," he stated. "I want to change the sound and raise the bar and give everybody something else to follow," he said.

Di Genius is about to drop the remix to Shaggy's single Sugarcane, which they performed at the launch of Shaggy's latest album.

He told THE STAR that, "I finished working on the remix like two days before the launch. It's a surprise we even remembered the lyrics." The Sugarcane remix features Shaggy, Di Genius, Chino and Agent Sasco.

Di Genius is looking forward to a busy summer, as he has shows in Trinidad at the end of July, Canada, and the UK at the end of summer.

However, for now things remain interesting in the Big Ship studio as he continues mixing, releasing more songs, and doing videos for other members of the camp.
