Unemployed man charged with fraud

An unemployed man charged with fraudulent conversion pleaded not guilty and had his bail extended when he appeared in court yesterday.

45-year-old Dean Vendryes from Fairbourne Road, Kingston 2, is to return to court on August 29 for sentencing. On that day, he is also to return the money to the complainant.

According to court documents, the complainant reported that on July 9 she was at her business establishment when she saw the accused man, who is known to her. She said that she asked him to purchase a case of beer in return for $150. It is alleged that since then, the complainant has neither seen or heard from the accused.

When asked about the money in court he said, "Miss, nutting like what, she say is lost di money lost."
