WOMAN CHOKED, BURNT, DURING DISPUTE

An Electrician who allegedly tried to choke his girlfriend with a towel pleaded guilty and had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The accused, Daine Treasure, 35, from Hughenden Avenue, Kingston 20, is charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. He is to return to court on August 29 for sentencing.

The court heard that on Tuesday, June 28 about 9:15 p.m., the complainant was at her boyfriend's home when an argument developed over domestic issues.

It is alleged that he grabbed her, placed a towel around her neck and squeezed the area. It is also alleged that she received bruises and scratches to her left side.

Furthermore, the court heard that on Wednesday, April 6 about 8 p.m., the complainant and the accused had an argument about their daughter falling ill. It is alleged that he punched the woman several times in the face and used a clothes iron to burn her on the left arm.
