In a fabulous event last Friday evening, 31 beautiful girls from the Sunshine City were chosen for the LIME Miss Teen Portmore 2011 Grand Coronation Show during an elimination, sashing and after party atop the roof of the Portmore Pines Plaza.

With family, friends and well-wishers cheering them on, more than 70 girls paraded their physique, beauty and charisma for the crowd and judges to make an assessment.

This number was later reduced to 31, and the girls who remained beamed onstage while they were sashed.

The organisers were pleased with the night's proceedings. "This is the biggest crowd I have seen at this venue," one of the organisers told THE PORTMORE STAR. "We hope to make this year our biggest and best pageant."

The pageant has got off to a great start, with the girls exhibiting beauty with a lot of brains. In a recent interview with THE PORTMORE STAR, a representative of Octron Promotions, which has produced the show since its inception in 2004, had said: "The girls this year have a lot of quality, and it will be a difficult task for the judges to chose a winner."

Apart from the sashing, there were performances from Untouchable Squad and Miss Teen Dancers group.

After the sashing, Flava Unit sound system gave the mainly youthful crowd an adrenaline rush with some nice tunes.

Associate sponsors include Shopper's Fair, Progressive Grocers, Brooklyn Supermarket, CVM-TV, West Indies Home Contractors, Lasco and Care Furniture Company Limited. Meals for the pageant will be provided by Burger King, while Pepsi Cola, will offer refreshments.
