No bail for man in visa case |

A sentence date for July 6 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday for a man accused of collecting monies from persons under the pretence that he could provide visas and jobs for them in the Cayman islands. Everton Booth of a White Marl, Central Village address is charged with obtaining money by false, pretence and was remanded in custody for restitution until his sentence date. It was reported that sometime in September of last year, the defendant collected a total of $105,000 from five complainants to obtain Cayman visas and provide jobs for them in the said country. However, the defendant failed to fulfil his promises and was pointed out to the police on June 27 of this year. |
