A male teacher from a St Catherine high school who allegedly fondled several girls at the school where he works, was charged with indecent assault yesterday

The 30-year-old teacher has been slapped with five counts of indecent assault.

The Star was informed that the man was taken in by his attorney Earl Hamilton on Sunday. His charges, THE STAR learnt, arose from a series of incidents that reportedly started in January this year. He was said to have fondled the student's breasts.

The last incident reportedly occurred in June while a party was being held at the school.

An initial action was taken by the school board after doing its internal investigation into the matter. It was revealed that a formal complaint was made to the Child Development Agency which probed the matter.

The police were then brought into the investigation which resulted in the teacher being charged.
