The San San police in Portland are now sifting for clues that may assist them in determining the cause of a fire which destroyed a four-bedroom house in the Sherwood Forest area of the parish yesterday.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Reports are that about 6:30 p.m., the owner, who was not at home at the time, received a telephone call that smoke was seen coming from her house.

The police and the Port Antonio Fire Department were alerted but the house and its contents were destroyed before they arrived. One unit from the Port Antonio Fire Department carried out cooling-down operations.

Loss is estimated at $4 million. It has not yet been ascertained whether the house was insured.

Investigations are continuing.
