The identities of the two persons killed in Wednesday night's attack on a passenger bus along the Long Hill main road in Anchovy, St James, have been released. They are 28-year-old Mondale McFarlane and Josef Chambers, both of Cambridge addresses in the parish. The incident happened about 8:25 in the evening near the King Gate Crossing. According to reports from the police, a man who was a passenger on the bus requested a stop at the crossing and after paying his fare, reportedly pulled a gun and opened fire on the bus. Six persons were injured in the incident. They were taken to the hospital where McFarlane and Chambers were pronounced dead and the others admitted. In the meantime, the Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators has condemned the killings. They are urging bus and taxi operators to use designated bus stops or lit areas at nights when making stops. |
