No order made in property destruction case

A no order was made in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday in a matter concerning damage done to a door with a jelly coconut.

The decision was made by the court to discontinue the matter as the accused made full restitution to the complainant out of court.

The accused, Heckle Hutchinson from Lucas Road, Kingston 2, was charged with malicious destruction of property.

The court heard that the complainant and the accused had an argument when Hutchinson used a jelly to damage a panel door valued about $7,000.

It was said that on February 20, about 10 p.m., the complainant was at her house when she went outside to visit a friend who lives close by.

While outside, she saw the accused seated in her mother's stall with a female companion and advised him to move away from the stall as it is used for selling food and so he should not sit in it.

The accused then reportedly verbally attacked the complainant.

The complainant returned to her house and went to bed when a loud noise garnered her attention.

Afterwards, she heard a shatter and a bang and saw when the door was broken and a panel inside it destroyed.

A jelly was seen laying nearby after the door shattered.

The accused was also reportedly seen standing outside the door and appeared upset as he resumed his verbal attack on the complainant.

A report was made to the Rockfort Police Station the following day.
