The Miss Teen Portmore elimination show and sashing is on this evening at 7 at the Portmore Pines Plaza, St Catherine.

The organisers have promised a fun-filled night, which not only highlight some of the most beautiful and intelligent girls living in Portmore but will also feature a bona fide Breeze Out!, It's Summer Time after party with sound system Flava Unit thumping some of the hottest tunes.

Last Saturday, over 300 girls paraded their beautiful assets, talent and brains to a panel of adjudicators in two different sessions at Burger King, Portmore Mall, and 78 girls were chosen for tonight's elimination show. Octron promotions is the producer of the show.

From tonight's event, about 30 girls will move on to the grand coronation show that is scheduled for August this year. The concept for the Miss Teen Portmore (summer) pageant came out of the need to facilitate and assist teenage girls in Portmore, who had nothing positive to occupy their time during the summer.

The pageant deals primarily with the applicant's knowledge of current affairs, Jamaican culture and history. It aims to assist the personal development of young ladies through grooming sessions, public speaking and social development.

It also contributes to their educational development. One major criterion is for applicants to have at least a C+ average, as the organisers promote educational growth and vision for the teens. The girls must be between the ages of 14 and 17 years old, and must exhibit a talent.
