The clock on the wall inside the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon was showing 12:15 p.m on Sunday May 22, when Bishop Dr Roy Owens called the four candidates, who requested water baptism, to stand before the congregation to testify. In her testimony Dena Christie called on the congregation to worship the Lord before she pointed out that her decision was a bold one. She begged worshippers to pray for her strength that she may continue on the pathway of Christ. determination Alecia Brown said God has been good to her hence she decided to serve Him. She promised not to backslide. "I have made up my mind to serve God with every determination and everything. Everything is possible to serve Christ. With Christ all things are possible," testified Brown. After all testified Bishop Owens explained that the move taken by the candidates confused Satan, who has tried to deceive them for too long. He stressed that when persons get saved the Devil is not pleased. "Anytime one gets saved there is a difference. In the gospel one finds direction and gets the good news of salvation," said Owens. He warned that although it is the right thing, Satan will not be pleased and will want to attack or tempt them into doing things that are wrong. He asked those who are saved to practice the things that are right; and to make their way straight before God. "Do not do crooked things. If you do not follow God and centre your thoughts on people, you will do the wrong things," noted Bishop Owens. The baptism was the first to have taken place at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church since the arrival of Bishop Dr Roy Owens last September.
