Graduation is di icing on the cake

with Miss Kitty

A di season when nuff parents heart swell big and some a dem pocket a bun dem chu graduation!

I'm so happy for the kids, parents and teachers who worked so hard and were successful in the quest of high achievement. Mi naah tell no lie GSAT come in lacka seh is a mini university entrance test caw di amount a sinting weh di poor pickney dem haffi study is like a astronaut dem a go tun! Inna my time a did Common Entrance Examination (as mi seh dat mi feel one likkle gray hair a come out) and it was jus mathematics, English and mental ability. Dem time deh it did wicked much less yah now! But it's also good fi start train dem brain fi absorb more book work an lef less space fi idleness an man and woman! As di worl a get more advance di kids dem haffi up to di time! Graduation is di icing on the cake weh most pickney a look forward to and from di hairstyle to di frock to di stocking to di boot, every pickney waa experience dat.

grand occasion

Yuh have some parents who wait til di last minute fi get dem act together and feel like seh dem can come stress odda people for their lack of preparation! From yuh baby start school yuh know seh all tings working equal and graduation is a mus. Put dung a likkle much every year or month and save up fi di grand occasion and don't disappoint di pickney dem.

Some a dem spend out every last faadn pon hairstyle an clothes and no mek no provision fi dem baby collect dem cerfiticate inna style.

Graduation nowadays still come in like wedding an if yuh no mind sharp all honeymoon price come in deh to! Unnu know how dem love di Cinderella cock-off frock dem and dem want shoes wid likkle heel and dem likkle bag, an no lef out dem hairdo! Ma! But mi tink some a di school dem haffi tighten dem requirement caw some a dem ova di top. Even though mi like di idea fi di kids dem graduate inna white dress mi really support di school dem weh a seh everybody fi wear dem uniform instead.

Children can be brutally honest and unkind and no pickney no fi feel left out. It a go look a way when some come an look like princess an oddas come an fi dem frock look like tableclaat an is no fault of theirs, a jus chu dem parents cyaa afford it. It nice fi see dem a walk up and a collect dem certificate and feel proud a dem likkle self.

Big-up to the students who got a place in the school of their choice an mi haffi seh big up Zachary Clarke from George Headley Primary school who is on his way to Ardenne High School! The ones who didn't get a place where they wanted to, know seh unnu can do good anyweh yuh go, a jus fi you put yuh head and your heart into success. Is not where yuh coming from but where yuh going. Always dream big and aim high. Parents who need fi step up to the plate and give their children the support and tools they need to excel should do so now. Dem pickney yah naa stay a grung like one time and di seed yuh sow now a dat yuh a go reap. Don't put dung no pickney becaw di same stone di builder reject always tun di head corna stone. If dem bad an need fi get draft, dem fi get it caw mi no inna di rude pickney ting...dem mus gi likkle trouble yes but is either eggs or young ones!

Some people no invest inna dem pickney and dem expect dem fi turn wata into wine! God bless di teacha dem who serve our children well, give of themselves unselfishly and unreservedly fi try an mek dem amount to sumting. Big up Paulette Wright from Pembroke Hall Primary School ... goodaz fi dem an mi naa tell no lie! Great job.Graduate in style as you step up to another level and if there is a classmate not as fortunate as you, help them along because you never know when they may help you.
