Home-made gun found in pit latrine seized

The St Catherine North police have made a further dent in the illegal gun trade after they seized a home-made gun in a pit latrine yesterday.

Reports are that between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. a series of raids were conducted in Bowerhood area of Bog Walk in the parish. The team went to a house searching for illegal drugs and guns,

A pit latrine was checked by the team and a string was observed suspended from the seat. A thorough search was conducted and a home-made shot gun loaded with two rounds was found.

One man has been held in connection with the seizure.

The seizure came less than 24 hours after the Spanish Town police along with the Custom Enforcement Team seized four illegal weapons.

"Boy the man dem just come inna di area an search everyting dem si. A so dem find di gun inna di pit latrine," a resident told THE STAR.

THE STAR was told that a top-level investigation has been launched.
