Police probe prisoner's death |

|
The police in St Ann are now investigating the death of a prisoner who was allegedly beaten by inmates at the Brown's Town police lock-up on Tuesday. Dead is 52-year-old James Walford from Brown's Town in the parish. Information reaching THE STAR is that Walford was recently sentenced to 12 months behind bars after being convicted on a charge of simple larceny. Reports from the Brown's Town police are that Walford's motionless body was found after they responded to an uproar inside one of the cells. He was rushed to the St Ann's Bay hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. In the meantime, THE STAR has also been informed that two prisoners who were inside the cell with Walford are being questioned in connection with the incident. |
