Chaos reigned in Linstead, St Catherine, last night after a group of gunmen fired several shots in the heart of the town leaving two vendors dead. Reports are that about 9:15 p.m. the two men, whose names were not revealed up to press time last night, were selling phone cards and other items in front a store in the town when three men alighted from a bus they were travelling in. They walked up and shot the men repeatedly sending persons scampering for cover and causing panic. "Everybody start run all bout and some screaming fi help,di man dem just move and tek weh a man car shot two and gone," a vendor recounting the event said. The Linstead police said the men were believed to have been a part of the cash-for-gold trade but said no motive has been established for the shooting. - R.T. |
