Reports are that about 5:15 p.m., the team went to the "Back Lands" area near Angel, St Catherine. Upon reaching a wooded area, the weapons were found concealed. Among the weapons seized was a unique rifle which the authorities are yet to identify, three 40 calibre 9mm pistols along with a quantity of assorted rounds.

While no arrests were made, senior police personnel said the seizure was a success and will put a damper on criminal activities in the area.

The Star was told that the operation in the fight against illegal guns is ongoing.

An investigation has since been launched to locate persons who might be responsible for the illegal guns.
