Tastee Talent Trail breaks new ground

The Tastee Talent Trail under the direction of executive producer Robert Chang and producer Abe Baracatt broke new ground in 2009 when the trail went to two virgin territories, Ocho Rios and Portland.

Auditions at these two venues received contrasting support, Ocho Rios was a resounding success while Portland in terms of crowd support was rather weak. Ironically, Portland had the most representatives among the 10 finalists that made it to the December grand finals, that year.

In 2010, however, Ocho Rios was retained and Portland was substituted with Savanna-la-Mar, it too being a virgin area as far as national talent exposure was concerned.

So this year, the Tastee Talent Trail, with sponsors Tastee, Pepsi, Supreme Ventures, Breezes, TVJ, FAME, LIME, Sparkles, T-shirt Express, KSAC and KosmoTours head into Independence Park on Saturday, July 30, 2011. The level of talent displayed at last year's audition is expected to be repeated, as the likes of Crishna Brown and 16-year-old Shelly-Dean Bartley made it all the way through the final six of the 2010 series.

So far this year, Portmore and May Pen auditions have surpassed last year in both the quantity and quality of contestants.

Remaining audition dates after Savanna-la-Mar in the series which offers a million dollars in cash to the winner ($250,000 to the runner up and $100,000 to the third-place winner) along with mobile phones from LIME are; Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Montego Bay and Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Kingston. The next audition is Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Island Village, Ocho Rios.
