Boys' Town's Kevin Pottinger (centre) makes a tackle on Arnett Gardens' Kemar Shaw while Andrew Allen looks on during their Claro/KSAFA Under-20 final at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex recently. Boys' Town won the game 3-1. - Contributed Boys' Town captured the Claro/Kingston and St Andrew Football (KSAFA) Under-20 Champions League title after dispatching Arnett Gardens 3-1 at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex on Sunday. National Under-20 player Jamiel Hardware grabbed a brace in the 65th and 83rd minutes after Jamie Robinson had given Boys' Town a 45th-minute lead. Romardo Bigsby pulled one back for Arnett Gardens in the 84th minute but the game was already well and truly over. It was a good win for the Boys' Town community as their senior team had lost their All-Island Champions Cup title to Tivoli Gardens earlier this year. Despite the scoreline, it was a closer battle on the field between the two Trench Town-based teams with some attacking, entertaining football throughout. The young Red Brigade took the lead on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a wonderful 30-metre effort from Robinson, who delicately chipped the ball over goalkeeper Brain Headlam. couple of goals The half ended 1-0 in favour of Boys' Town but their neighbours came out firing in the second half and should have scored a couple of goals but for poor finishing. Fabian Reid, who played for Arnett's senior team a few times last season, got two opportunities but the easiest of chances fell to his teammate Andrew Allen from about six metres out. Arnett Gardens would pay for their profligacy in front of goal when Hardware converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute after Vishnual Harris was fouled in the box. The outstanding Hardware then made the game safe for Boys' Town heading in the third goal in the 83rd minute. respectable score A minute later Bigsby pulled one back for Arnett Gardens in the 84th minute making the score respectable for the losing finalist. At the end of the match, the celebrating Boys' Town were presented with the winning trophy by Charles Bramfield, Claro's promotion officer. In the semi-finals last Thursday, Boys' Town turned back Harbour View 9-7 on penalties after battling to a 2-2 draw. Top marksman Jeremie Lynch had given Harbour View a 39th-minute lead before Jamiel Hardware levelled the scores in the 43rd minute. The game went into extra time and Trevel Walker gave Boys' Town the lead for the first time in the 100th minute but Damion Lowe, the son of former national player Onandi Lowe, converted a late equaliser in the 120th minute. On to penalty kicks and the young Red Brigades emerged winners 9-7. In the other semi-final, Arnett Gardens blanked Rae Town 4-0 with the promising Javoni Simms netting twice in the 31st and 55th minutes. He was ably supported by, Tamar Edwards and Fabian Reid in the 48th and 68th minutes respectively.
