Curtis Campbell, STAR Writer
DJ Powa is now being called a creative genius after his video remix of a TVJ news interview blew up literally overnight on the Internet getting over 60,000 views on Youtube in one day. According Kevin 'Dj Powa' Hamilton, he is just an ordinary disc jock who was just doing a thing for fun after being influenced by the Bed Intruder song by the Gregory brothers, "Me and a friend of mine Andre Campbell decided to try it with the Tivoli Incident We Are Deading and the response was good so I decided to try it again," he said. The DJ says that he is yet to recover from the shock of hearing that the video was getting so much attention especially its preview on popular news network CBS, "a friend told me via Facebook that it was on CBS and I thought it was a joke until he posted the link and I was like CBS? The write-up was hilarious," he said animatedly. Dj Powa, who is also a business opportunist, says that the We Are Deading remix is currently selling on iTunes and Nobody Caana Cross it will be up for sale in a few days. According to the disc jock and entrepreneur, he along with his business partner, Timo, also have a T-shirt line called 'The People Are Deading' and they are making preparations to release the 'Nobody Caana Cross It' edition. Dj Powa says that since the success of his video remixes, he has gained a new respect for the social media, "It's a wonderful medium for expression and it can carry ordinary persons to places they never imagined. I just wish persons would use it wisely," he told THE STAR. As it relates to doing future remixes he said, "I will continue to make more videos like this, as long as people are laughing," he promised. The DJ also says that he plays at weddings, socials and functions but he has not played at hardcore parties since converting to Christianity. |
