The St Catherine South police seized three illegal guns in the Waterford, St Catherine yesterday. No arrests were made in connection with the seizure, the police said. According to the police, about 9:45 a.m., a team was on patrol in the Caymanas Drive area of the community. After a number of houses were searched and nothing incriminating found, the team then went into bushes near the Waterford Primary School. During a search of the bushes, an Uzi sub-machine gun, a Mini 14 rifle and a 303 rifle were found. The police said five assorted rounds of ammunition and two magazines were also seized. Operations officer for the St Catherine South police, Deputy Superintendent Clive Blair, said the operation will be ongoing. "We will continue to go into any area of Portmore to find the guns. We just need the cooperation of residents to have a better success rate," DSP Blair told THE STAR. It was revealed that 30 illegal guns have being seized in the division since the start of the year. |
