In a fluctuating economic climate with mounting expenses, in addition to spiralling pollution which affects our health, The Jamaica STAR- The People Paper, has partnered with singjay and lover of the environment, TanyaStephens, organizer of this year's Eco-Festival (July 17), to bring you, our valued readers - 'The Green Scene' every Monday for six weeks.

'The Green Scene' will share environmentally friendly tips; pointers on how to cut costs by using eco-friendly products found right in your homes and, most importantly, resources ourSTARreaders can utilise in case of emergencies.

Today's Eco-friendly tip is: Carpooling

Do not let your car's engine idle for more than a minute. That's unnecessary use of gas and additional CO2 emission. Also, consider carpooling with friends when working or playing in the same area. Not only is this an opportunity for all to save on fuel costs and lessen the burden on the environment, but it's also a good way for today's busy career-driven folks to catch up on some socialising!
