Your personal 'mission field' |

Dear Pastor, This is my second letter to you. I do not know whether you had received the first, so I am writing again. I enjoy reading your column. I need your opinion. I have been married three times and divorced three times. All three wives were white. I only have two children with one of them. I used to run around but I have stopped that now. I was in Jamaica in January 2010 and I got involved with a young woman. She has three children and she is only 28 years old. I have sent three barrels of food, clothes and other things for her because she is struggling, and she needs help. Every time I call her, she is always begging for more. I gave her the money to pay to do a computer course and she used the money to do something else. Now she is begging me for a laptop. Rev, I don't know what to do because I can't trust her anymore. My mind has changed from her. Do you think I should give her another chance? R.P., New York, U.S.A Dear R.P., This young woman is hungry. Send more barrels of goods to feed her children and herself. She needs all the help she can get, and if you can afford to help, don't stop. She is not wise, but she is hungry, so feed her. You don't have to marry her because she cannot be trusted but, as often as you can send the barrels, do so. Don't buy her a laptop, but, whenever you are coming to Jamaica, and you can get a used one in good condition, bring it for her. She is not 'wife material'. No, she isn't. But she is a 'mission field'. You are behaving as a missionary. Part of a missionary's job is to help to provide food for the needy. So, feed this woman. Pastor |
