Curtis Campbell, star writer
The STAR artiste of the month Assassin, aka Agent Sasco, is a man who spends most of his time working, given the busy and competitive nature of the music industry. Recently , The STAR spent the day with Assassin and it was indeed a hectic day. The artiste woke around 8 a.m., and sorted out his morning duties then headed off to the gym where he did his regular workout routine. According to the artiste, it is important to keep the body in good condition, especially when you are constantly working. After leaving the gym, he went home, got dressed and linked up with The STAR team at the Penthouse Recording studio where he along with Rum Blood of Ward 21, his road manager Gareth Campbell and other associates, discussed the West Indies cricket match that was being played on the TV, among other social issues. Following the thrilling discussion that ensued, the artiste went straight to business, taking his place behind the microphone in the recording booth to do dub plates, "yu see it, STAR I recorded that in one take," he boasted, after completion of a modified version of his single Run Di Place produced by Board House Records. The artiste said the recording of dub plates is a regular part of being an artiste. "Right now, because it's summer, it's even more hectic because there are a lot of events taking place at any particular time," he said. According to the artiste, to cover a day in his life wouldn't exactly reveal what it is really like, because sometimes his schedule varies. "Sometimes I am with the media doing interviews like what we are doing right now, and then on other occasions I'm on a plane for an entire day, and that would be a day in my life, so it all depends on the day, I guess," he told THE STAR. Assassin also said that in his free time he may opt to watch a movie or play games on the Internet with his friends. He, however, pointed out that his nightlife is not very consistent. "Every now and then wi party, sometimes wi just chill like yu si wi at Magnum Kings and Queens the other day, and last weekend we went to Miss Kitty party in east." After having a chat with THE STAR, the artiste left the studio to meet with veteran saxophonist Dean Fraser, with whom he had a live band rehearsal that he predicted would last for several hours. "With dem man deh, yu can't predict how long rehearsals are going to be or what time they will start, but a just part of the business we have to learn to adapt to that," said Gareth, Assassin's brother and bausiness partner. |
