Utter rubbish

Dear Pastor,

I don't know if it is because Jamaica is a third-world country why men look down on their women with such chauvinistic disrespect. The men claim that a woman's quality is measured by her ability to cook and clean the house. That is utter rubbish.

By the same token, a good man is one who can chop down a tree, and pour concrete to make a house. He should also be able to slaughter a cow, dress it and provide the steak which he wants for dinner. That, too, is utter rubbish.

If the wife is a brain surgeon, after two operations that day, does the husband expect a warm dinner on the stove when he eventually comes home from playing dominoes?

R.S.,

Dear R.S.,

Perhaps the man can expect a warm dinner if they have a helper. Very often, women complain that their men do not help them to do house chores. And I tell them that all men are not able to do these chores because they do not have the time. Their work is demanding and many do not work 8-4 jobs or 9-5 jobs. Therefore, it is silly and most unreasonable for some wives to expect their men to join with them and clean, wash and cook.

The same is true for all men to expect women whose jobs are very demanding outside of the home to prepare meals, clean, house and wash, etc - and be ready in the bedroom for action every night. It is just not practical. Such couples need to employ helpers.
