|||||
Club Euro hostess, Camela Alverado, gives Richard Rust a special 'shot' during the launch of Dream weekend at Club Euro, Miami, Florida on Friday, May 27. - Contributed The Dream Team set out to establish the Dream Weekend as the event of choice for the Emancipation weekend. Here in Jamaica, the team has succeeded and has also sought to make the event known in other parts of the hemisphere. The weekend was officially launched in New York earlier this month and was unveiled in Miami, Florida on Friday, May 27. The launch, which took place at one of Miami's hot spots, Club Euro, was well supported by a large contingent of partygoers. The event featured Jamaican sound system Stone Love and Coppershot. A series of dancehall hits from yesteryear, including Shabba Ranks' Caan Dun, Terror Fabulous and Nadine Sutherland's Action, and some reggae greats like Beres Hammond's Putting up a Resistance, Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry and Gregory Isaacs Rumours. All through the night, patrons were reminded of the dates of the Dream Weekend and informed of ticket outlets in Florida. The DJs also gave shout-outs to the sponsor companies in the house like LIME and Tru-Juice. Tru-Juice hostesses poured juice cocktails throughout the night and gave partygoers a taste of true Jamaican flavour. Special fruit and vodka shots were delivered to guests through large syringes and this proved to be another exciting element of the launch. Dancers in black sultry wear entertained atop the bar and DJ booth throughout the night. A dance pole in the centre of the venue was eye-catching and saw many guests taking turns at it. Darsham Lam of Tru-Juice said that the company was happy to be a part of the event and was thrilled to see the support for the products. LIME's Nathaniel Palmer was also on hand for the launch, and shared similar sentiments. "LIME is committed to entertainment because we have seen its positive impact on Jamaica and in particular our customers. LIME is proud to be a part of this amazing Jamaican experience, and is happy to be aligned with an event of such a high calibre that will reap many benefits for Jamaica," Palmer said. The gathering at the Club Euro launch was wowed by revelations of the plans the promoters have in store for dreamers. Dream promoter, Kamal Bankay, stated: "The promoters of Smirnoff Dream Weekend have seen the outstanding support of the Jamaican Diaspora as well as increased tourist arrivals during the Emancipation weekend. We use this event to keep our overseas supporters informed." "Dream Weekend is highly regarded both locally and
internationally, and we hope to
see even more support from our overseas party fans this time around," Bankay commented. |
