Police personnel searching for men involved in shoot-out

Police personnel in the St Catherine South are still searching for two of three men who engaged them in a shoot-out on Sunday.

The incident occurred about 7 p.m. along Terminal Road in Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine. A policeman was injured and a gunman shot and killed during the incident.

Dead is Oneika Webb, a 26-year-old labourer of Terminal Road, Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine.

Police reports are that a police party was on patrol along the road when three men were observed acting suspiciously. The men were stopped by the police when they allegedly brandished guns and started firing at the police.

A shoot-out ensued during which a policeman was shot in the leg and Webb shot and injured. A gun was taken from him..

He and the injured policeman were taken to the hospital where Webb died and the injured cop admitted.

The Bureau of Special Investigations along with the Independent Commission of Investigations have started a probe into the matter.
