Upcoming deejay Dolla Koin shot a video for his new single, Jeans and Heels, earlier this week, and the rookie is upbeat because he is getting an incredible buzz around the project.

'Right now, I am getting a lot of positive feedback on Facebook and on the entertainment websites to the Jeans and Heels song, people are loving its summer vibe," he said.

The Portmore, St Catherine-based deejay is developing a decent underground following in his community with the bouncy summer song, and another hardcore single called No Bwoy. Some dancehall insiders believe that he has a flow that is reminiscent of an early Vybz Kartel because of his lyrical wordplay, rapid fire delivery and offbeat metaphors. He will be officially launching the project at an event called 'The Launching of Dolla Koin' on June 18 at Club Aphrodisiac in the Portmore Town Centre. Alliance deejay Bounty Killer is officially booked to make an appearance at this event.

He was born Sean Simms on June 1979 at the Kiwanis Maternity Centre located in Tivoli Gardens, the youngest of four children. It was while attending primary school in Portmore that his passion for music began to emerge.

"I can still remember my father, who is an ardent music lover, having a small music system and crates on top of crates of records which he played every day and that's where I developed an appreciation of music," he said.

When Dolla Koin started to develop a keen interest in music, his neighbour began to host sessions every Sunday using sound systems such as Electric Force, Commander Force, Soul Signal and several others. While still a teenager, he began to make mix tapes and songs about women and doing counteractions to various dancehall artistes.

Dolla Koin has developed a decent repertoire of popular songs including singles such as Dash ItWay, Tights & Heels, No Bwoy and Get Girl Easy.

"And I am writing more songs every day, after the release of the Jeans and Heels video, you can look out for another video this summer," he said.

He describes himself as a God-loving, kind, humble, ambitious and a hardworking individual who aspires for greatness in his music so he can inspire youths to nurture and use their God-given talents to achieve their dreams.

"If you can conceive it, you can achieve it," he said.
