A man was crushed to death yesterday after he was run over by a container handling equipment at the Kingston wharf.

Allegations are that the employee was crushed by the vehicle from his waist down and he was immediately transported to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where he was pronounced dead.

Marketing executive Simone Murdock, in a release, said an employee was involved in an accident involving a container-handling equipment during routine terminal operations at Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) yesterday.

The company employees are currently receiving grief counselling. THE STAR was told that the KWL takes the safety and security of all its employees seriously. The KWL family is saddened by the occurrence of this accident and the subsequent loss of life.
