Five caught smuggling contraband offered bail
SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAR Writer

Five persons who were reportedly caught trying to smuggle contraband into the Hunts Bay Police lock-up recently, were each offered $100,000 bail with surety until July 27 when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Delroy Armstrong, Edna Young, Damion Williams, Sanjay Jackson and Leon Mullings have all been charged with introducing contraband, possession of and dealing in ganja conspiracy and possession of an offensive weapon.

Information reaching THE STAR is that on May 7 persons were observed jumping over a fence located at the rear of the police lock-up.

The police were made aware and a quick response of police personnel revealed that the persons were in possession of contraband which they attempted to introduce into the lock-up.

Further investigations led police to a plaza that borders the police station where a bus, believed to be the means of transportation used by the persons, was seen parked.

A search of the bus reportedly revealed liquor, ganja, knives and food among other things.

The persons were later held by the police and charged.
