Armed with new songs and a new look, Richie Loop is definitely getting ready for what is expected to be a hot summer. The Big Yard entertainer whose hit, 'My Cupp', thrust him into the spotlight last year, is finding even greater traction with a handful of new songs that include 'What Yuh Thinking', with Pretty Kitti.

What Yuh Thinking, described by industry insiders as a 'scorching club banger' has been getting much attention since it was released. "That song is a song for the ladies. First, it was My Cupp, and me say 'what's in my cup', now I am saying 'what yuh thinking', because the girls want to know what I was drinking, so now I am asking what they are drinking, so I can buy them a drink and we can share and have fun," Richie explained about the message of the song.

The song was among three released by Richie Loop in just about a month. Gyal Yuh Body Clean, that rides on the infectious 'Hot Noodles' rhythm, is also gaining traction, as well as Love Zone on the 'One-A-Way' rhythm, which is featured on the Dancehall Rock album.

Richie said this summer is all about having fun. "This summer is all about a 'spazzing' Richie Loop, a more happy one, so I am giving the ladies some more party songs," he said.

energetic

The energetic, young entertainer isn't done releasing songs just yet because a song many believe is his best of the year, so far, is about to hit the streets. The early word is that Summer Spazz, a collaboration with Chris Martin, has the potential to be one of the songs, if not the song, of the summer.

"This song is gonna be crazy too," he said. "And it will be out pretty soon, a couple of deejays already have it. DJ Bambino has it, Sparks, Elektra, Liquid, so Dream Weekend tun up."

In addition to the new music, Richie is also sporting a new haircut, which he says began as a mistake but evolved into a new look for the summer.

"This was all a mistake. Went to the barber to get a little slash but it turned into something I didn't like," he said laughing. He decided to shave the sides of his head. The look has been well received. "It's a new vibe. People like it so me a work with it."

Richie recently performed along with D-Major, Busy Signal and others at a pre-meet show at the Jamaica National Jamaica Invitational, and said he was heartened by the response. "It was fun," he said.

His focus now, he said, is promoting his new songs and upcoming performance at the Best of the Best Concert set for Bicentennial Park in Miami on May 29.
