Crystal Harrison, Star Writer

A male student was stabbed to death by another male student in Manchester yesterday.

The incident happened about noon at the Cross Keys High School in the parish.

The dead boy has been identified as 16-year-old Haig Williams from New Green in Mandeville.

It is reported that three boys and Williams had a dispute in their community the day before which spilled over on to the school compound.

It is further reported that during the lunch period, Williams was attacked by three other students and during the fracas one of the students used a knife to stab him.

treated at school

Williams was treated at the nurse's station and rushed to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

When contacted, Superintendent Lascelles Taylor, in charge of the parish of Manchester, said charges will be laid against the attacker once investigations are completed.

Taylor said that he had no idea what caused the fight. "These boys are hyperactive from different volatile communities. I have heard rumours indicating that the feud was over girls or games but we cannot pinpoint what exactly they were fighting for.

In the meantime, the three male students are in police custody.
