Accused cop killer held

Horace Williams, one of the men wanted for killing two policemen on Mountain View Avenue on May 23, last year, has been held.

He is the 10th suspect to be charged in relation to the murders of these policemen.

Williams, who is from a Mountain View Avenue address, has been charged with two counts of murder and six counts of shooting with intent.

According to reports, Williams was among a group of heavily armed gunmen that ambushed a police patrol team responding to gunshots being fired in the Mountain View area.

As the patrol approached the intersection of Deanery Road and Mountain View Avenue, the hoodlums opened fire hitting eight members of the team. The injured lawmen were taken to hospital where Sergeant Wayne the Henriques and Constable Jason Davis were pronounced dead. The other members of the team were treated for gunshot injuries.

Williams joined his other nine co-accused, including his 21-year-old son Kemar, who has been in custody since late last year. The other suspects are: Nocholas Scott, 19; 32-year- old Linton Facey; 21-year-old Fitzroy Johnson; Oswald Kemp, 31; 30-year-old Dwayne Forbes; 23-year-old Mark Brown; 22-year-old Damian Williams, otherwise called 'Duppy Maker', and 26-year-old Omar Green, all from the Mountain View Avenue area. All but one of the suspects were offered bail on their last court appearance.

Horace Williams is booked to appear in court on May 20, while the other suspects are scheduled to appear on July 4 and 5 for preliminary hearing.
