FAKE GUN FOUND IN COURT BATHROOM |

PAULA GORDON, STAR Writer A gun lighter made out of iron that was found in the public bathroom at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday tricked several persons into believing it was real. Information reaching THE STAR is that about 1 p.m., a policeman approached the groundsman and told him that the male bathroom was flooding. Kenneth, the groundsman, told THE STAR that the lighter was found in a toilet tank. "Mi go check and mi see weh the fault coming from the corner and by lifting up the tank a dat mi see really a gwan," he remarked. He further explained that, "Dem disconnect the toilet tank, lock off the water and stuff it in there in a black scandal bag. At first mi think it was a gun because it shape like a gun. A real gun 'cause yuh can stick up people with it." He also told THE STAR that sometime later a man came back asking for it. "Is a Rasta bredda own 'cause him come back fi it and mi tell him say it ova the station. Him charge fi ganja and come a court. Him did wah come inna the court and because dem did a go search him, him hide it inna the bathroom," he said. handed to police THE STAR understands that the lighter was taken to the court's police post and given to the inspector who took it over to the Half-Way Tree Police Station. A police officer from the police post at the courthouse confirmed the find. He added that if someone were found in possession of a lighter of that nature at the courthouse they would be charged because it would be deemed an imitation firearm. |
