Tivoli tackle Blades in 'A' League final |

A massive showdown is expected today when Tivoli Gardens oppose Blades United 'A' in the final of the Jamaica Netball Association/Supreme Ventures Divisional A League competition at the National Indoor Sports Centre starting at 5 p.m. This match will be preceded by the 'C' League final between Boulevard Baptist and Skibo 'C' starting at 3:30 p.m. The 'A' League final also promises to be a very entertaining game as both teams ended the season unbeaten in their respective zones. Tivoli "B" will be aiming to make a return to the Super League competition after being demoted last season. "We are expecting a good fight from Blades because they have been unbeaten in the competition, and so they must have been doing good," said Sylvester Campbell, coach of Tivoli. "We have been playing good netball, both in attacking and defending, and so we just need come out and concentrate on what we have been doing, to win the game," Campbell said. He added: "We have a very good bench with a lot of depth, and if needs be, we can always turn to these players to carry us through to the end." The west Kingston-based Tivoli will rest their hopes in the hands of former national Under-16 players Shade Ffrench and Kanielia Riley, along with captain Shelly-Ann Bryan, Bavaria Bond and veteran player Patricia Chambers. very optimistic Blades United, on the other hand, have been knocking on the door to become the 'A' league champions for some time and now that they're back, they are very optimistic. "We are expecting to win the game because we have a rounded team and the players are very confident of a victory," said Rohan Byfield, coach of Blades. "We are expecting a tough a game from them, but we are going out to compete very hard to win the game,"said Byfield. The 'C' league final should also be very good as both teams have been playing well this season. Boulevard Baptist are unbeaten this season while Skibo have one loss. However, the game could be decided by the accuracy of the shooters. The winners of the 'A' league will collect a trophy and $110,000, while the runners-up will earn $90,000. The 'C' league champions will take home $70,000, while the runners-up will collect $60,000. |
