Nail tech guilty of assault on boy

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man who reportedly assaulted a boy while he stayed at his house for a night was convicted in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Thursday.

The man, a 25-year-old nail technician, was found guilty after a jury returned a unanimous verdict after retiring for an hour.

He was remanded by Justice Evan Brown to be sentenced on May 24 in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

It was revealed that in April 2009, the accused, who was a friend of the complainant's family, was allowed to sleep at the house.

Court documents indicate that sometime in the wee hours of the morning, strange sounds were heard coming from the child's room.

The documents outlined that when family members checked the source, the man was caught on his stomach with his mouth on the child's private parts.

Further checks revealed that the accused had done the criminal act to another member of the family.

The police were called in and investigations resulted in the man being arrested and charged with gross indecency.
