A labourer who was caught red-handed trying to steal a bottle of lotion and four Lasco food drinks from the Empire Supermarket in Cross Roads recently was fined $10,000 or six months' imprisonment in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The court heard that about 5:50 p.m. on May 5, the defendant, Brian Pringles, entered the supermarket and tried to leave with the items He was stopped and searched on his way out and the items found on his person.

He was reportedly asked to pay for the items but could not produce the payment, subsequently he was escorted to the Cross Roads Police Station where he was charged.

The items stolen were reportedly valued at $2,080.
