SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAR Writer Complaints from persons who work in the New Kingston business district that they are constantly being harassed by a street woman regarded as the female version of the action hero 'Rambo' because of her unexplainable strength, have since been denied by the woman. Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that the woman abuses narcotics such as marijuana and cocaine which impair her judgement, boosts her strength and shortens her temperament towards those from whom she begs money daily. "Apparently, when she takes the coke, she morphs into a vampire and preys on her victims. She walks around asking for money and, when her demands are not met, she becomes abusive," an alleged victim told THE WEEKEND STAR. THE WEEKEND STAR also heard that, "she will try hol' on pon yuh an ting and use abusive language," another alleged victim explained. However, when THE WEEKEND STAR went in search of the woman described to be a beast who possesses the vigour of Hercules, we were rather surprised to meet an average-looking woman with a partially disfigured right arm who resides in a gully in the area. Rambo told THE WEEKEND STAR that she was innocent of assaulting passers-by for money and maintained that she is simply a honest beggar. "Me no hol' on pon nobody, a beg me beg, if a yes a yes and if a no a just no," she explained to THE WEEKEND STAR, after we had provided her with a $100 for her to purchase a glass of rum. THE WEEKEND STAR then journeyed with Rambo to a nearby bar where she purchased the alcohol that she said would be used to run duppies from around her. "Me a go drink and sprinkle the rum fi the duppy dem," she remarked. When THE WEEKEND STAR inquired about the origin of the duppies, we were told by a friend of Rambo that "the duppy dem of the other coke head dem that dead." We accompanied her as she returned to her spot, where she bade goodbye. "So me will talk to you a next time yuh hear," she said, as she headed to 'the gully' or as she described it, her 'gully house'. Checks with the New Kingston police revealed that while no formal complaints have been made against the woman, they have heard rumours about her alleged unlawful actions. |
