Lawman's case moved to Spanish Town RM Court

A policeman charged with carnal abuse after being accused of sexually assaulting the niece of his common-law wife appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court yesterday and had his matter transferred to the Spanish Town RM Court.

The constable, who is from a St Catherine address, is to appear in court to answer to the charge today.

Allegations are that the 13-year-old complainant was at a premises located in St Catherine. The premises was occupied by her grandmother and one of her aunt with whom the accused shared a common-law relationship.

While there, the accused, who was carrying out repairs to a white Suzuki Swift sedan motor car, invited the complainant to accompany him to a nearby gas station.

Further allegations are that the accused parked the motor vehicle in an open lot and made sexual advances at the complainant.

After refusing and pushing him off, she saw a marked service vehicle and told a police officer about the incident.

The accused was then arrested.
