Sergeant's fraud case adjourned till June 9 |

A police sergeant charged with unlawful possession of property and fraudulent use of registration plates had his matter adjourned until June 9 when he appeared in The Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is Howard Hayden, 44, from a Greater Portmore, St Catherine, address. vehicle searched Allegations are that on April 29 about 7:40 p.m., police personnel were conducting an intelligence-led operation along Perkins Boulevard, St Andrew. The sergeant was stopped and his vehicle searched. According to court documents, Hayden was asked if the motor car was licensed and insured and he said no. He was also asked if the registration plate displayed belonged to the vehicle and he allegedly said, "A suh mi get it." Further allegations are that he told the police that he got the car from an ex-Superintendent in 2003 and had been driving it since that time. Meanwhile, when checks were done, it was found that the registered owner of the vehicle was deceased. |
