Star Tell Me Pastor

Money for favours

Dear Pastor,

I see where you have helped many people, and I hope you can help me. I am 26 years old. I have a child, but I am still living at home. My mother treats me like a little child. And whenever I stand up for my rights, she tells me I can't back talk her in her house.

My boyfriend is an American and he is in the military. He promised that he will marry me when he comes back to Jamaica. I can't wait for that to happen. The only time my mother and I get along is when my babyfather sends me money. Whenever I have money, she will do anything, including keeping the baby because she knows I will pay her.

I can't take it anymore. Please tell me when I can call you to talk to you about my problem.

M.T.,

Dear M.T.,

You are old enough to be turning your own key. If your mother continues to abuse you, you should rent an apartment and live on your own. If the relationship between your mother and yourself were good, you could save some money by remaining in her house. But, evidently, your mother feels she can do and say anything to you because you are under her roof. Therefore, it is time for you to wish her well and move out.

Pastor
