Man ordered to pay for stolen goods

A man who stole nine tyres, a battery and parts from a truck belonging to his employer was ordered to pay for them after he pleaded guilty to simple larceny.

Kevin Francis, who lives in Kingston, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magis-trate's (RM) Court yesterday. He will be sentenced on May 31.

Allegations are that Francis took off nine truck tyres, a battery and a bumper from his employer's trucks valued at $750,000 in March. The accused, however, told the complainant that he would pay for the stolen tyres.

When he appeared before RM Judith Pusey, Francis had $100,000 to pay the complainant. RM Pusey ordered him to bring the remaining sum on the date set for mention.

The complainant said that he would be leaving the island shortly and would be away until the end of July. The RM, however, assured him by saying that "I will keep your money in a safe place until his arrival back to the beautiful shores of this island."
